Chassis

The original chassis frame is CUT and EXTENDED to suit the 6x6 wheelbase. With a choice of wheel base to suit your requirements. A STRONG BOX SECTION is SECURED BELOW the CHASSIS FRAME and extends well past the joins of the extended chassis section. This NEW BOX SECTION is secured by stitch welding to the bottom of the chassis rails and a FISHPLATE IS WELDED TO THE OUTSIDE of the extended and reinforced chassis frame so as TO BRACE THE CHASSIS against both twist and longitudinal deflection, OVER EXTREME TERRAIN and to allow for the INCREASE OF up to 300 PERCENT in the LOAD carrying CAPACITY OF THE 6X6, over the original 4x4 vehicle.

The MAXIMUM CHASSIS STRESSES ARE REDUCED, IN OUR 6X6 DUE TO THE ENORMOUS ARTICULATION OF THE SUSPENSION.

The Bogie can be positioned anywhere within a fairly wide range to suit Requirements of the owner, as the existing rear suspension pickup points are now redundant and the whole rear suspension system is modified using out designs. See the specifications page for an outline of the various wheelbases.

The extended chassis allows the fitting of enormous fuel and water storage tanks, with usual capacity around 600 litres between the chassis rails, under the tray body on a 6x6 tray back and 300 litres on a dual cab. This is in addition to the original tanks on the 4x4 vehicle in most cases. We have many of our 6x6 vehicles with several hundred thousand kilometres in service and the chassis have performed extremely well.
